iyabo ojo vs laide bakare

Nollywood Yoruba actresses, Iyabo Ojo and Laide Bakare are both popular stars who have years of experience behind them as successful actresses. Their successes have taken them from the terrain of acting to that of producing, which anyone does really in the Yoruba sector of the movie industry.

But Iyabo Ojo and Laide are turning out to be the most prolific producers who produce quality flicks. Though they are friends, the rate at which they produce films tend to make them out as rivals. Even though the duo may not be working to any particular scripts, their productions seem to have stories running parallel to each other.

When Laide released ‘Jejere’, a movie that made so much noise some couple of years ago, Iyabo was not found wanting as she released her own ‘Arinzo’. Both films made big money for the actresses even though their release dates were apart by months.

Then Laide stormed the market with ‘Alhaja Tio Common’ to which Iyabo also replied with ‘Tenbelu’.

Now two months into 2014, both actresses are already waving in our faces new movies and the battleground has shifted from Yoruba films to multi-lingua films. Laide premièred ‘Money Bag’ a few weeks ago and only recently Iyabo also released the trailer of her much awaited film ‘Silence’, a film that brings the reality of child abuse to fore.
